F.A.Q.

Q. What’s the difference between EDWARDS Learning Center and other tutoring services?

EDWARDS Learning Center utilizes individualized lesson plans to meet students' needs. EDWARDS Learning Center employs a holistic approach to learning, where students, tutor, and parents work in collaboration for maximum results.

Q. How do I know if my child needs tutoring?

Here are a few reasons why students will benefit from EDWARDS Learning Center tutoring services:

  • Continued falling grades in school
  • Student shows frustration in a particular subject(s)
  • Student develops low self-esteem and thinks negatively of himself or herself in regards to school performance
  • Student is constantly making excuses as to why he or she is not doing homework
  • Student experiences anxieties when taking tests and exams
  • No matter how hard student works, grades do not improve
  • Student is bored in school

Q. Is testing conducted at EDWARDS Learning Center to see where students need help?

When students enroll at EDWARDS Learning Center, the first thing we do is assess the strengths and areas of improvement. Through our comprehensive approach EDWARDS tutors will pinpoint areas for improvement and work with students to close the gaps. The Director will meet with students and parents to review recommendations and design a personalized program for students. Ongoing testing is conducted to see if students have improved.

Q. What is the teacher / student ratio at EDWARDS Learning Center?

The maximum class size is 4 students per teacher, so there is guaranteed personal attention.

Q. How many times a week will students need to attend EDWARDS Learning Center?

EDWARDS Learning Center agrees with Edward Gordon, a tutoring consultant for the Federal and State government (NJ State), featured on CBS/The Early Show. Most tutoring programs work with the student on an average four to six months, seeing the student for an hour’s session two (2) to three (3) times a week. Less than twice a week is often a waste of time because it is not enough assistance.

Q. Can I enroll at any time of the year?

There is ongoing enrollment throughout the year based on space availability. However, we strongly recommend that students register immediately if the students are struggling and/or failing any subject in school.
